Transplanted from Chicago to Texas; I'm a suburban/country girl hybrid. I wear many hats- mother, daughter, wife, boss lady, and college student.
This blog is about gardening, cooking, parenting (fur babies and skin babies), art, music, and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Joyful Girl

My new compost bin, made from re-purposed wooden pallets and chicken wire.  (The total cost to make this was the $12.98 we  spent on the chicken wire.)  Now that this bad boy is put together, we can rake up the remaining leaves and pile them in.  The front of the bin has a slot that you can use to add or remove wooden slats, so when the compost is done cookin’, I can just remove the boards, and rake it out.  It’s also conveniently located right next to the garden, so I won’t have to go very far.  Hubby will make the lid soon, and then I can start putting the really good stuff (food scraps) in there.  I have been wanting this compost bin for more than a year, and I can already tell that it’s going to be well worth the wait!
